How to achieve a well-balanced life by moving your body
It is surprisingly easy to overlook one of the best ways to achieve a well-balanced life, which is simply by moving your body. Doing so will automatically increase your well-being. People who are more physically active are happier, they tend to have better relationships, better meaning in life and less risk for depression and loneliness
You can find numerous studies describing the impact of exercise on your body, mind and wellbeing, from an overall perspective. Motion (exercise) doesn´t only have a positive impact on your body and physical health, it will also affect your brain.
When you move or exercise, there will be a neurochemical change happening in your brain. This change seems to make you more optimistic and connected to others, and it also calms down anxiety.
As humans, we are not built to sit still all day, every day. Instead, we are built to move, walk, run, lift, push… It doesn´t matter what you do or for how long, just do something, daily.
Try not to overcomplicate it; make moving your body as easy as possible
The easiest way to try out what impact motion has on you is to include exercise into your daily routines. You can start by adding small amounts of whatever exercise you like. It could be dancing while you make yourself a cup of tea or coffee. Walking for half an hour after work or maybe you prefer to do that in the morning. You might want to choose to bike to work if that’s possible.
Exercise doesn’t have to be something complicated or strictly scheduled. When you begin to see the result of moving your body, you’re going to want to keep that up.
When life gets in the way of exercise but you learn how to tackle it
Sometimes, however, life gets in the way and we forget about how well we feel when we exercise. Or it seems we don´t have time for it. What happens to me in these situations is, I start having an emotion of unease and sometimes I´ll get a headache. When this happens, I can look back on the past few days and on my eight pillars of life balance. What I try to look for is if they all are in balance, if not then I can easily do something to correct it.

The benefit of knowing which areas to focus on to build yourself a balanced life is, it then becomes easier recognizing when something feels off. As you learn how your mind and body works, you can build yourself a life that suits you best. It is going to become very clear when something isn’t working for you. And it´s much easier to correct any situation before it has a drastic outcome.
When life feels hectic and you just feel there is no time for an hour walk or exercise, then please at least stick to those small habits of motion. A few minutes of exercise here and there is better than nothing at all.
Choosing exercise for a well-balanced life
When you start building yourself a balanced life by focusing on moving your body, you can start small. Some of you might already have an exercise routine in your life, which is fabulous! The ones of you who haven’t felt the need to include motion and exercise into your life now would be the time to try out what it feels like. Implement a simple workout routine or exercise in any situation possible. You can add just a few minutes of moving your body in any convenient situation.
