One and a half years after Coaching

Thoughts by my Coachee

What is going on with my coachee one and a half years after the coaching?! I just had to call and find out. Teemu Virtanen, working as a OSS Manager sums it up for me.

Back in 2017 Teemu and I sat down together for five coaching sessions. The areas to tackle had to do with delegating, prioritizing and sharing of information, among others. As we started Teemu had a vision for what needed to change and why that would be important.

“You know, I have saved all the e-mails we shared in my inbox, and I actually only save the most important or current mails there. I look at the e-mails now and then as I want them to remind me of what I need to focus on.”

We are bound to think that success is all about doing, doing and doing. Getting things done. But when we don´t take time to focus there might be the false interpretation that hassling equals results. This easily creates the feeling of stress and stress makes us not pay attention because it narrows our field of view.

Teemu found it immensely important that coaching in fact paused the train, slowed down the rat race, call it whatever you want. Pausing, talking, focusing. All of those together gave Teemu back his creativity and capability to innovate and change the issues that needed to be attended to. be looked at by his thoughts and behavior.
