What we think is what we become, our thoughts have great power. Understanding the underlying essence of thought, will have us realize how to make changes in our lives. That is why trying to change behavior, without understanding thoughts, will be a struggle.
Repeated thinking is repeated behavior
We have around 60.000+ thoughts passing our minds daily, depending on how we define the word of course. It is stated that 95% of our thoughts will as a matter of fact be the same as the ones we had yesterday. And up to 80% of them are negative! (according to various studies) As we repeat our thoughts we will most certainly also get the same outcome.
“Thinking today the same as I was thinking yesterday, will give me the same outcome today as it was giving me yesterday.”
Our brain is hardwired to save energy. When we keep this in mind we understand why we build habits and routines. As we habitually do something one day after another we save energy. Looking at habits from this perspective they are, as a matter of fact, good to have in life.
The benefit of a habit is simply that we don´t have to spend energy again and again on the same thing. Due to the routines and habits we have built for ourselves we are able to kind of function on an auto-pilot in many of our daily situations. The brain wants to do what it is used to and that again is based on what you have been learning and thinking earlier in life.
Change thoughts and recreate you habits
So, to make it really simple. Bad or negative thoughts is most likely going to create bad action and outcome.
By becoming aware of your thoughts you can impact your behavior. When you change your thoughts you are also able to change your habits and routines. This is why focusing on our mind and thoughts is so essential. Realizing what we think and what it creates on a daily basis is the key to change. What would a new great habit look like in your life, one that will work in favor for you?!
