Your mind is like a garden; grow it deliberately

Imagine you have a garden with a lot of plants and trees. Some of them are beautiful and some of them are weeds. Pay attention to the weeds in your garden. Are they maybe taking up most of the space or are you able to enjoy your garden? Is it beautiful, do you like spending time in your garden, is it a joyful place? Now imagine; your mind is like a garden and your thoughts are your plants, wouldn’t you want to grow it deliberately?

When you look at your mind as a garden and your thoughts like seeds or plants, you understand how important it is to focus on what you think. Because what you think about something is what causes your emotions about it. Your emotions will then steer your action, reaction, or inaction.

Your brain is a powerful tool

In one day, your brain process about 60,000 thoughts. That is why it is of utter importance for you to become aware of what thoughts you are focusing on. Just like with the garden, where the seeds or plants you allow define what your garden will look like. In the same way, the thoughts which you are occupying your brain with give you the outcome you will have in your life.

What do you plant in your mind?

Become aware of the kind of thoughts you have planted in your mind. Because most of them will be on repeat. You think similar thoughts day in and day out unless you start focusing on them, questioning them, and deliberately changing them. Are you planting love, joy, abundance, and belief, or are you maybe planting and sowing seeds of negativity, fear, and scarcity?

What kind of thoughts are you allowing in your mind and which thoughts have you decided to not allow? Become very deliberate about how you want to think.

Many times, you might end up thinking about other people and their business. You feel they are doing or saying something wrong. Are these thoughts serving you, do you feel energetic, peaceful, and inspired? Or do you maybe feel agitated and annoyed?

Other times your focus might be on yourself and how you are not worthy or can´t cope with something. You might even try to convince yourself how you are not capable of learning or becoming something more than you are right now. What I want you to realize is, these are thought, not truths. Thoughts can always be changed.

Are your thoughts working for you, or are they working against you? ⠀

Are you letting weeds grow or are you more focused on watering the plants that should grow? ⠀

Accept your thoughts and choose them more deliberately

Personal growth is about understanding who you are, what and how you think, and growing from there. It is not about cutting out something from your life or your mind, because those things will just come back into your life until they are processed.

Instead, become aware of your thoughts. Sit still and listen to them. Try not to be afraid of them or avoid them, even if they take you to an unpleasant state. You can learn how to cope with your unpleasant emotions because they have something important to tell you. After listening to yourself in different situations you can start to learn how to make deliberate decisions about how you want to think.

Are your thoughts moving you towards a life of fear or a life of courage and abundance? Are they making you more proactive or reactive? Think about if it is more typical for you to blame other people or circumstances or do you take action to change what can be changed? Choose your thoughts just like you would choose what you plant in your garden. Remember, your mind is like a garden; grow it deliberately.
